About Us

The Designer

Our designer and founder, Carmella Weintraub, came to the fashion world later in life, after a career in art.  She is, indeed, still an artist with a mission – to bring beauty and harmony into the world.  Her vision for creating beauty is to apply it to our everyday life, and she has chosen clothing and home accessories as her medium.  The intriguing and fascinating world of color of motifs is her world and she applies them enthusiastically and with creativity to the world of clothing and accessories.

Our Story

Our current business, Carmella d’Oro started out in 1994 as Spirit of Silk and at that time every thing was made by hand in our art studio.  Hand-painted silks were the original canvas where all designs were tried out.  Later, after an accident and an illness interrupted the sequence, we went to Italy and secured production for our products in Como.  As our business expanded, we had our designs hand screened there and received the finest quality work from our producers in Italy.

Our Philosophy

We believe that women of shapes, sizes and ages should have access to beautiful and meaningful clothing that makes them feel special and good about themselves.  We believe that clothing choices can honor the very essence of a woman and can be not only a source of pleasure, but also an avenue of expression about her individuality.  We also believe that a woman’s choice of clothing can be very empowering and can reflect the essence of her inner strength.  We also feel strongly that clothing is an empowering force and that as such, it should be of high quality, good fit and should be available in a range of colors in order to truly flatter and accentuate a persons individual coloring and personality.
